Finding the good in the bad is the key to happiness and success. In the book Throwing Strikes by R.A. Dickey, R.A. goes through many hardships in his life with his family and those hardships changed they way he acted at sometimes. R.A. had to learn to cope with the problems or his life would be really hard. R.A. found a way to cope with it and became at star in the MLB. Finding the good in the bad is the key to happiness and success.
R.A. Dickey's parents divorced when he was only 6 years old so he had a lot of trauma. to make it even worse, R.A. was molested by his baby sitter and a man on the street at the age of 7 and 9. At the age of 13 R.A. had the choice to live with his dad and took that opportunity. R.A left his mom for his dad and his mom went into a depression. R.A. saw his mom a lot but moved in with his dad for a opportunity in sports and the High School he wanted to go to was closer to his dad's house. R.A. Didn't really spend all of his time at his dad's house, most of the time he would crash at friend's house's. One time his friends family made him prey with them after dinner and he loved it. He loved having someone to trust and to let loose and forget about his past. R.A. also found he love of his life at high school named Nancy Mcgee. R.A. liked her because he felt like they understood each other. R.A. would then marry her and have kids with her and they are still married to this day. It was good that R.A. let someone in his life after all of his hardships.
"Throwing Strikes " By R.A. Dickey is a great book on advice for teens who need to cope with their problems. This book has a connection to the world because R.A. Dickey is a professionel athlete and is famous world wide, also a lot of kids like him have problems like him. The connection this book has to me is I play baseball and i wanted to see how a kid with so many problems grew up to be and iconic baseball player. Finding the good in the bad is the key to happiness and success.
